Andrew Bannecker: Creative Space

22 November 2024

We knock on the door at Andrew Banneker’s studio to see where his eye-popping work comes to life!

Stepping into the kaleidoscopic illustrative landscape of Andrew Banneker is like that scene in The Wizard of Oz where Dorothy opens the door in her monochromatic home and steps into the rainbow pallet of another world. We wanted to know if stepping into the artist’s actual studio would be a similar experience but instead discovered a wonderfully eclectic space full of carvings, tribal artefacts and antique furniture.

The contrast between the rich, dark hues of the extraordinary collection of wood and stone, ceramic and textile makes a startling contrast to the candy-coloured vectors of his illustration work, but it’s a contrast that evidently works. There’s no doubt it’s an inspiring space with views out into blossom filled gardens.

"My studio has always been an oasis for me. A space that is filled with objects I love. I surround myself with these objects as if they’re a piece of me. It’s all about a feeling for me. From antique African art to small ceramics made by my children it all has a special meaning."

Now you've seen Andrew's creative space, take a stroll through his folio here.
