West Elm

 

 

This was a collaboration between National Geographic and West Elm kids which included bedding, rugs and decorative accessories. The collection featured designs of maps, dinosaurs and outer space and was intended to encourage exploration and scientific wonder in West Elm’s youngest customers. 

 

"I was asked to create a series of illustrations on an outer space theme. I really love this theme and it’s not one which I have created a lot of work on so that was great to explore. I had recently picked up a vintage Larousse Astronomie book in a French brocante which was a wonderful source of inspiration for this project. It has loads of planet illustrations with fantastic typography and scientific drawings. I used to look at vintage books, paper ephemera and typography for inspiration a lot and it was really great to revisit that for this project.”
