CIA’s Ruby Taylor got streetwise for this new Bloomberg map commission, below she gives us the guided tour...

"When Bloomberg Connects approached me to create an illustrated map for the Museum Mile Festival, I was immediately excited by the brief. I love projects that combine storytelling and place-making, and this was a wonderful opportunity to bring together some of New York's most iconic cultural institutions in a single illustration.

My favourite part of the process was researching each museum and finding ways to capture its character while creating a map that felt inviting, playful and easy to navigate. The biggest challenge was fitting such a long stretch of Fifth Avenue into one coherent composition and balancing geographical accuracy with visual storytelling. It's always a juggling act with maps, but that's also what makes them so enjoyable to create.

As someone who loves museums and cultural spaces, it was particularly rewarding to work on a project that helps people discover and engage with them in a more accessible way.”
