CIA’s master of letterform, Peter Horridge, has created a stunning calligraphic artwork for Sipsmith gin.
Grab some ice, twist the lid off that tonic and slice the citrus of your choice while you enjoy this lovely new packaging project from Peter Horridge. Familiar collaborators Pearl Fisher always had Peter in mind when they conceptualised this new label design.
"It was an enjoyable challenge which included the necessity to cohere with an already established brand language and work around Tobias Hall’s pre-existing swan motif. It was a difficult brief as they wanted the copy to read clearly while having to avoid that central space. I stretched the boundaries of legibility in some early sketches which got knocked back, but after numerous revisions we got there. A pleasing result for me as it shows off two of my skills, the calligraphy and the calligraphic illustration as one."
