The World According to Mads Berg
24 April 2025
Whether CIA’s Great Dane, Mads Berg, is casting his unique visual eye over fashion, fine dining or sport, one word that encapsulates his work is ‘aspirational’. You invariably find yourself wishing you were in the picture and nothing says this more than his broad array of travel posters.
While there’s an undeniable (although small) amount of tribute being played to travel posters of the previous century, Mads brings a whole new level of modernity to the table and a subtle use of colour and texture that not only utterly reflects the quality of light in a certain part of the world, but even its level of humidity.
This, in partnership with a dazzling eye for dynamic composition, fashion-forward figures who you simply want to be (or at least meet) and a toolbox full of typographic skills makes for a pretty stunning combination.
“Each commission affords me the opportunity to immerse myself in researching that particular location. There are so many triggers that can take you to a place, be it climate, architecture, flora, fauna and of course the fashion sensibility… If one of these factors is slightly off it can completely undermine the transportive sense of being in that moment, in that place.”
