Google is planning to turn the city of Toronto into a futuristic smart city driven by data and connectivity. It could be the coolest new neighbourhood on the planet or just a real scale guinea-pig experience. The idea is to reimagine Toronto’s neglected waterfront as “the first neighbourhood built from the internet up” as Sidewalk (a sister company of Google) describes. Our CGI artist Ben Fearnley has imagined how the city would look for Politico magazine.

Nowadays, there is an app for pretty much everything, but an app featured with Ben Fearnley’s work is pretty unique! Our CGI whiz has been commission by Apple, hard to escalate from here! The first illustration was created for an app used by HTML phobic - the concept was to create a mass mix of unorganised code that would then visually appear to be organised as it passes through the app icon shape, hence the use of the app simplifying the process of coding. The second illustration was created for an App used by apprentice artists, representing a pandora box as a design motif to express the creative world that is constantly pouring out ideas. Wrap you mind around that.

The paper craft wizard, Andy Singleton, has been commissioned to create a cover design for Easyjet inspired by their feature on Estonia and its magical expanse of forest. Andy has hidden a Wolpertinger in the landscape, a Easter European mythical hybrid creature of a rabbit with antlers, fangs, wings and webbed feet. Be careful out in those woods on your own! Known for his large installations for luxury brands, it’s great to see Andy’s work realised in three dimensional splendour wrapped into a small scale narrative.

Andy Singleton's latest work is exhibiting in Manchester Motel One Royal Exchange. Taking inspiration from Manchester's cotton producing history and inspired by the process of manufacturing cotton thread and fabric, Andy Singleton has created a large scale installation and 3 small cased works exploring the theme. The work explores the moment the cotton thread is woven into a new forms and becomes fabric, capturing the energy of the process.

We can't help but share another delight from Andy Singleton's project with Pottermore. Our favourite and rather heoric creature, known to some as 'Witherwings' but most as 'Buckbeak'. A charming and passionate hippogriff who lived with Rubeus Hagrid in the School grounds and who was a loyal in defending Harry in battle mutliple times. Andy has created a whole array of paper crafted 3D models if you're as nerdy as we are about the wizzarding world.
