Celebrating Korean culture with CIA’s Jason Raish

26 January 2026

It’s Oscar nominations time and K-Pop Demon Hunters is a hot tip for the animated feature gong - quite right too, it’s wild! New York based but proudly Korean, Jason Raish has created a limited edition screen print celebrating the film alongside an even more limited edition (just 65) rainbow foil variant.

As Jason describes the cultural texture to the films narrative, "The OG demon hunters in K-pop Demon Hunters were female shamans from the Joseon period, called Mudang, who used music and dance to create the first Honmoon protective barrier. The demon hunter through-line is shown as Rumi, Mira, and Zoey wear the traditional Mudang clothing with their modern hairstyles and footwear. Tradition meets modernity, shaman song and dance meets K-pop."

We’ll see how the movie does at the Academy awards but Jason’s artwork has already been selected by the jury for the Society of Illustrators 68th annual exhibition. Just keep the speech short Jason, okay?

More Jason joy here.
